My Approach

Compassionate therapy. Rooted in connection. Focused on you.

I believe therapy works best when it is shaped around the person rather than asking the person to fit a particular approach. My work is holistic, person-centred, and collaborative.

An approach shaped around you

Therapy Tailored to You

There is no single approach that is right for everyone. We will determine together what is most helpful and adapt our work as your needs and goals evolve.

Deeper emotional exploration

Understand and work through emotional experiences, longstanding patterns, and the ways they affect how you relate to yourself and others.

Practical support for today

Develop new perspectives and strategies for managing a current problem, difficult emotions, or distressing symptoms.

You set the pace.

You remain at the centre of the therapeutic process. I provide guidance, support, and professional expertise, while you decide what feels important to explore and how deeply you want to go. We will meet where you are and work at a pace that feels right for you.

Your story. Your goals. Your pace.

A transparent process

Clear enough to begin.

Therapy stays collaborative from the first conversation onward.

  1. Connect

We start by getting a sense of what brings you here and what support could look like.

  2. Explore

We notice experiences, patterns, and the context around them with curiosity.

  3. Understand

We build insight around what gets in the way and what helps you feel more grounded.

  4. Move forward

We try practical, evidence-informed ways of creating change that fit your life.

Building Skills Beyond Therapy

Therapy can extend into daily life. Together, we can develop practical tools and habits you can use between sessions to feel more grounded, confident, and connected.

  1. Emotional Regulation

  2. Mindfulness & Presence

  3. Communication & Boundaries

  4. Self-Compassion & Confidence

Therapeutic methods

An Integrative Approach

I draw primarily from Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), along with mindfulness and skills from other evidence-informed approaches.

These therapies can be effective on their own or thoughtfully combined depending on your needs, preferences, and goals. This flexibility allows our work to include both deeper emotional processing and practical strategies for the challenges you are experiencing today.

I believe psychotherapy should be both deeply human and informed by scientific research. The approaches I draw from have been studied across a range of psychological concerns, although the amount and strength of research varies between them.

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)

Our emotions can carry important information about our needs, experiences, relationships, and the ways we have learned to understand ourselves. Sometimes, painful emotions or longstanding emotional patterns can leave us feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from ourselves.

EFT helps you explore and make sense of these emotions in a safe and structured way. This process can support greater emotional awareness, new responses to painful experiences, and different ways of relating to yourself and others.

Research supports EFT particularly for depression. A recent systematic review also considered anxiety, PTSD, and borderline personality symptoms, while noting that the existing evidence base remains limited and varies in quality.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

The way we think, feel, and behave can influence one another, sometimes creating patterns that keep difficulties going. CBT helps you recognize these patterns and explore whether there may be more helpful ways of thinking about and responding to the situations you encounter.

Together, we may identify unhelpful patterns, develop new perspectives, and practise strategies that can help you manage difficult emotions, change behaviours, and respond more effectively to life’s challenges.

CBT is one of the most extensively studied forms of psychotherapy, with evidence across a broad range of psychological concerns, including anxiety and depression.

Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)

Therapy does not always need to involve an extensive exploration of the past. At times, the most helpful approach is to focus on where you are now, what is already working, and what you would like to be different.

Solution-Focused Therapy builds on your existing strengths, resources, and successes. Together, we identify meaningful goals and practical steps that can help you move toward the changes you want to make.

Research indicates that Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) can produce positive outcomes across a variety of psychosocial concerns and client populations, with results varying by population, comparison group, and therapy format.

Research provides valuable guidance, but therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process. I integrate these approaches according to your individual needs, preferences, and goals, and remain committed to ongoing professional learning so that the work I offer stays thoughtful, evidence-informed, and responsive.

You Don’t Have to Figure It Out Alone.

I’m here to support you, every step of the way.
